Bicol Region is located at the southernmost part of Luzon. It is also called as Bicolandia with 6 provinces—Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, and Catanduanes. Parts if Bicol is surrounded by a large portion of the sea, that of the provinces of Catanduanes and Masbate.

Bicol experiences a humid climate like most of Luzon with eventually rain showers. The Bicolanos are well known for their famous coconut dishes like that of Bicol Express, Laing, Tilmok, Pinangat and many more. These sumptuous dishes have something in common, apart from being all delicious, they all contains gata (coconut milk). The Bicol Region is also famous form its wide stretch of coconut farms. The people somewhat found a way to create and recreate dishes using this very rich ingredient. The Bicolanos are also fond of using various vegetables and fruits that they combine with coconut milk like the Ginataang Santol, Ginataang Sigarilias, Ginataang Puso ng Saging, etc. Another distinct mark of Bicol dishes is its hot and spicy kick. You sure have to try their unique chili ice cream! Nuts, specifically Pili are also used to make tasty treats in Bicol.
