What to Do in Seoul, Korea in a Week's Time

If you have enough time, a trip to Lotte World would be a great experience. Lotte world is like a knock off Disneyland, no seriously, the rides are comically very similar with even pieces in the rides that look like they were stolen from the Disneyland factories that make them. But it's amazing as HALF of the theme park is indoors, in a HUGE dome. It's the world's largest indoor theme park. And will only cost you about 25 bucks for a half day evening entrance. So you could go 5pm to 11pm. It's located on the other side of the river from all action, depending where you are in Seoul, probably a 15-20 min subway ride.

The traditional tea houses, museums, the five elegant palaces which host cultural performances and the contemporary Korean cinema, keep the city's ancient past alive.

What Are South Korea's Famous Tourist Attractions and Activities?

South Korea is full of exhilarating national parks, all of which are crisscrossed by clearly marked trails and dotted with good camping spots (and the occasional mountain hut). The cream of the crop is Seorak-san, and in particular Naeseorak (Inner Seorak), an exceptionally tranquil stretch of forested peaks, rivers, waterfalls and Buddhist temples - and some established rock climbs too. Also well worth seeking out are Jiri-san, which boasts a 65-kilometre-long ridge trail and lots of historic temples; the popular and fairly gentle trails of Songni-san; and Bukhansan, which is on the edge of Seoul.

North Korea - Holiday in a Secret State

First of all, and the question that many people ask me when I tell them about a trip I made back in '05: Why the hell did you go to North Korea?! The answer is simple: I like to do things a little differently. Most people think a great holiday is sitting on a beach in Thailand for a week, burning themselves and getting hammered every night, waking up around midday etc. I would much prefer to see places and do things so that when I come back from my holiday I've got a feeling of accomplishment. I wasn't really looking at holiday destinations when I was browsing the BBC news website and a story about DPRK's nuclear ambitions when I saw a link entitled, Holidays in North Korea. In that article I read about a company called Koryo Tours and from then my interest rose hugely. This company, run out of a Beijing office by 2 British guys, arranged visas and did regular tours to DPRK throughout the year, during which you had the chance of visiting and seeing things most of the world will never see.

Seoul, Korea: A City With an Overwhelming Amount of Things to Do

The streets of Insadong are filled with the traditional cultures of Korea. The area known as Insadong has been the center of culture since the Joseon era. Car traffic has been banned since 1997 to make the streets of Insadong friendlier for visitors and to improve the general atmosphere of the area. Around 40% of Korea's antique stores can be found in Insadong. But, that is just the beginning. As you wonder around the alleys and byways of Insadong, stores selling old books, pictures and calligraphy can be found. On the weekends, the streets of Insadong spring to life with cultural festivities, such as parades, traditional wedding processions, traditional musical and dance performances and more.
