Batangas Beyond Taal Lake and Volcano

Batangas, an unassuming province in Southern Tagalog Region, is akin to Taal Lake and Volcano. The two wonderful natural tourist attractions have brought so much pride for the province that they will be forever attached to its name. But Batangas, which is only between two and three hours drive from Manila, has a lot to offer to discerning travelers other than Taal Lake and Volcano.

Best Tourist Spot in The Philippines

The Hundred Islands National Park (Pangasinan: Kapulo-puloan or Taytay-Bakes) is in the province of Pangasinan in northern Philippines. It is located in Alaminos City, Pangasinan. The islands (124 at low tide and 123 at high tide) are scattered along Lingayen Gulf and cover an area of 18.44 square kilometres (4,557 acres). They are believed to be about two million years old. Only three of them have been developed for tourists: Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children's Island. The islands are actually ancient corals that extend well inland, in an area previously comprising the seabed of an ancient sea. Lowering sea levels have exposed them to the surface and the peculiar "mushroom" like shapes of some of the islands has been caused by the eroding action of the ocean waves.

What to Expect in Tagaytay City in the Philippines

Tagaytay is situated next to Silang, a primarily agri-business based municipality, in the province of Cavite, where I lived for over 8 years. It is less than 15 minutes by car from the place where I lived. The growth of this city has flowed over the other outlying municipalities, including Alfonso, Mendez, Amadeo, Indang, in addition to Silang. From our vantage point of view, where we can view the outlines of Tagaytay Ridge that is highlighted by peak of Mt. Sungay (translated literally to "Mount Horn"), we have seen how our neighboring city, Tagaytay, has virtually acted like a magnet for tourists and other kinds of visitors who have been on the lookout for varied opportunities along the way. Some of them have decided to purchase property, invest in the booming local economy in the area, and explore what this City has shown them in their previous visits for possible profitable ventures.
